Applus+ has successfully completed the “Study and Monitoring of Energy Consumption in Spanish Industry,” a nationwide project promoted by the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDAE) and carried out in accordance with the guidelines of the Secretary of State for Energy of MITERD and the criteria established by EUROSTAT. This is the most extensive and comprehensive energy study conducted to date on the energy performance of the country’s industrial sector.
For two years, our team has carried out a comprehensive project that combines advanced data analysis, nationally representative surveys, detailed measurements in industrial facilities, sector-specific studies, and the development of a benchmarking platform for visualizing and comparing consumption patterns. The project also includes a consolidated methodology designed by Applus+ to enhance the national system for acquiring and processing energy information, establishing a robust and replicable framework for future studies.
As Juanjo Grau, Head of the Energy Efficiency Knowledge Area at Applus+ in Spain, explains: “This study represents a milestone in the understanding of energy use within Spanish industry and demonstrates Applus+’s ability to manage highly complex technical projects. Our objective has been to provide solid data and robust methodologies that support the country’s energy planning and its transition toward a more efficient and sustainable industrial model.”
The project strengthens the capabilities of the national energy statistics system and contributes to laying the groundwork for more precise, efficient, and decarbonization-oriented public policies. It also reaffirms Applus+’s expertise in developing high-impact solutions, where advanced analysis, technology, fieldwork, and strategic vision converge.
