Applus+ contributes to the energy efficiency of the lighting of a municipal football field in Spain

The work was carried out following the guidelines set out in the executive project, to which several improvements were incorporated directly presented by Applus+ as part of its technical proposal to the City Council, such as high-performance, low-weight luminaires that allowed greater energy performance, optimizing the final cost, or a wireless lighting management system, which allows the selection of light scenes to adapt light levels to the requirements of use at any given time.

The implementation of the project was motivated by the City Council's search for a more efficient, modern installation that complied with the UNE EN 12193:2018 standard, which establishes the requirements for lighting, uniformity, glare and colour for sports facilities. Following implementation, Applus+ carried out light measurements on the pitch to ensure compliance with both current regulations and the technical proposal offered.

The light levels achieved after the intervention, corresponding to a Class II facility, allow regional competitions and high-performance training sessions to be held. This lighting classification requires specific lighting conditions to ensure optimal visibility and safety for players, referees and spectators.

Thanks to this intervention, the City Council of this municipality has managed to reduce energy consumption from lighting by 75%, while at the same time sports facilities have experienced a significant improvement in light quality and uniformity.
